If you need a lanyard only for its function as a badge holder around your neck, then you can select a plain lanyard in any color you like, then you will need to focus on the different types of fasteners, materials, thickness, and other options available.
If you want to promote your company or association through your lanyards, select customizable lanyards (also often called advertising lanyards) which can be screen printed or sublimated. You will then be able to take advantage of lanyards with your company's image. What options are available when choosing my necklace?
Fasteners
This is the system for attaching the badge to the lanyard.
The most common and convenient attachment for wearing access control badges (such as HID badges) is the zip-tie. This small "yo-yo" attached to the end of the lanyard allows the user to bring the badge closer to the reader without having to bend down. The zipper can also be personalized with a logo printed on it, highlighted and protected by a layer of transparent plastic called "resin dome". The cord + zipper roll-up or "cordazip" gives a very qualitative and valuable aspect.
Plastic hook fasteners, zip reels and alligator clips are preferred for oval hole badges.
Phone clips are preferred for specific uses for certain devices.
The metal carabiner, metal hook and VIP fastener are suitable for round hole badges.
The double fastener lanyards are used for double perforation badges, thus preventing the badge from turning on itself and always leaving visible the side of the card that is most significant for the identification of its holder.
There are also necklace keychains, which can be used for example to wear clearboxes around the neck.
Sizes and materials
There are different sizes, different formats and different materials (polyester, nylon, metal, fibers, bamboo, plastic) for the cords.
- Flat cords, single or double thickness, called "sock effect" or "tube cords" exist in different widths (from 5 to 20mm as standard, even up to 30mm for a maximum visual impact). It is generally this type of cord that is best adapted to personalization.
- The round polyester cord, also customizable, is thicker than the flat cord, less common than the latter and therefore more original but with a less important marking area and therefore more discreet.
Colours
The lanyards are available in any color and can even be exactly the same color as your logo.
Security option
The security option is a detachable clip that allows the badge to be unhooked in case of excessive tension on the lanyard. This option is especially useful for factory workers who are required to work on machines while wearing their badge around their neck.
This option is also known as a "safety breakaway system" or "anti-strangulation system".
